17-21 September 2018Göteborg, Stockholm

Official Sweden are inviting you to a visiting programme on the next generation of transport. The programme will showcase several transport solutions and give a holistic perspective on Swedish urban mobility planning. We will visit test beds where Swedish cities are demonstrating and commercialising new solutions in practice, public agencies who plan for city integration and traffic flows, and commercial suppliers. The programme will also include a section about Swedish green financing for transport projects.

The transport sector is facing a major shift. With intensified urbanization more people need access to public transport to be able to benefit from economic opportunities in the city. Large investments are needed and many cites and investors are planning to build. But the transport sector is still mainly supplied by fossil fuels, accounting for over a quarter of all global carbon emissions. It needs to significantly reduce its carbon dioxide emissions. It must also reduce its emissions of health depleting air pollutants, which are destroying human health. New investments in urban transport need to invest in greener, smarter solutions which solve both the environmental and socioeconomic challenges the world’s growing cities are facing – not reinforce them.

Swedish cities are at the forefront of implementing smart logistics solutions, alternative fuels, effective policy instruments and integrated mobility planning of several modes of green transport. They have knowledge and experience of setting new standards, making investments in new technology and managing changes in behaviour – resulting in reduced emissions and economic costs for the city and its citizens.

On 17 - 21 September, the Swedish Institute, Business Sweden and Smart City Sweden invites you to participate in a visitors’ programme focused on next generation of travel and transportation, to explore how Sweden can help you and your city with new solutions. We will visit Gothenburg and the testbed ElectriCity, biogas bus fleet installations of Scania and Volvo, meet government officials, startups etc.
